Surprisingly Priyadarshan's Tamil film won the Best Feature Film at the National Awards recently and best actor (Prakash Raj) awards at the 55th National Film Awards 2009.

Priyan says that Kanchivaram would probably be his best film till date. Now here is a bigger surprise, none of the technicians in Kanchivaram - from Priyan to Prakash Raj to production designer Sabu Cyril and DoP Thiru - has charged a single rupee for the film. This leaves one happy director saying that “no money or fame could replace this moment in his life.”
