Dhanush's hush-hush trip to Benaras
Post 'Kolaveri Di', Dhanush has now moved on next frontiers and while the shooting of his debut Hindi film RAANJHANAA is still a few months away, preparations have already begun. As per our sources, the actor recently made a hush-hush trip to Benaras to understand the finer points around life and times in the holy city up North and also get into the skin of the character.
"There wasn't much hype and hoopla created about his visit to Benaras as Dhanush wanted to mingle with the crowd there and be a 'common man' instead of the star. Though 'Kolaveri Di' is a chartbuster and he is a much known name across the country, he neither has any starry airs around him nor does he wish to carry such persona in public places. Due to that he just wore normal everyday clothes and started walking the streets and spending time on the 'ghats' to understand the milieu of RAANJHNAA better,'' informs a source.
Though for Dhanush this was pretty much a first ever experience of a 'live workshop' instead of preparing for a role in the closed hall, those who have worked with director Aanand L Rai say that this was pretty much on the cards.
''Aanand does this with every actor who works with him,'' says his assistant director, ''For TANU WEDS MANU, he had taken Madhavan to Kanpur, Lucknow and other cities up North since the film was set there and he wanted him to become completely familiarised with the places he would be shooting. He wants them to get comfortable with the surroundings, weather and food there so that when the actual shooting begins, it is pretty much like a homecoming for all.
